The Cooking Club is having a Christmas party on 12/14!

Please come to the library at 3:00pm.
The cafeteria will be closed on that day.

Club members will make cookies and cakes.
Everyone is welcome to eat.
Please bring your own cup and plate.

Enjoy the great songs.

The famous singer Mei-chan will have a concert.

Tickets: $5 for students

After the concert, you can take pictures with Mei-chan.

My name is Sarah and I live in a small town in the country. I love living here because it is so peaceful and quiet. In my spare time I enjoy hiking in the hills surrounding the town. The views from the top are amazing!

Last weekend, my friend Emily came to visit me. We decided to go hiking together. I was excited to show her the beautiful views around our town.

We left early in the morning and the weather was perfect for hiking. As we climbed the hill, we saw deer running through the woods. Emily was excited to see them and we were quiet for a few minutes.

After a while we continued our hike and reached the top of the hill. The sun was shining brightly and the view was amazing. We sat on a rock and enjoyed the view for a while. Then we ate the picnic lunch we had brought.

While we were eating, we heard a strange sound. We looked around and saw a small bear walking towards us! We quickly packed up and started down the hill. The bear did not follow us and we made it safely back to town.

Sam is in his first year of college.
サムは大学1年生です。
His college is far from home, so he usually studies at the library on weekends.

At first, he was bored and lonely.

One day, a girl in Sam’s history class spoke to him.

That Sunday he went to his first class.
He learned some recipes and received a nice cookbook from his teacher.
Four weeks later, Shinji’s cooking was much better.
Now, every night Kaoru says, “Thank you, Shinji, for your delicious cooking.

New Friends
Amanda was born in Ohio, and she grew up in Chicago. 
She studied Japanese at a college in New York. 
Last spring, she finished college.

Now, she is teaching English at a high school in Tottori Prefecture.
Amanda teaches with a Japanese teacher, Mr. Takada. 
The students and teachers at the school are very nice. 
But Amanda had a problem at first. 
She didn't know anyone in the town.
Every day, Amanda came home from school and cooked dinner. 
Then, she watched TV and went to bed. 
She wanted to do something fun, but she didn't have any friends.

One Monday, Mr. Takada said, 
"I go to aikido class on Tuesdays.

Do you want to try aikido?"
 Amanda said, "Yes, thank you." 
She joined the class with Mr. Takada, and it was fun.

 After a few weeks, she made some new friends there, too. 
Sometimes they all go hiking together on weekends. 
Now, Amanda is very happy.
