It started snowing a few days ago and hasn’t stopped since then.
数日前に雪が降り始めて、それからずっと止まないの。
I’ve been on winter vacation for a few days, so I play in the snow every day.
数日前から冬休みに入ったから、毎日雪で遊んでるわ。
I think I’m finally getting used to life here.
やっとここの生活に慣れてきた感じ。
University in France is much harder than university in America.
フランスの大学は、アメリカの大学よりずっとハードです。
Here, I have to go to classes for about 25 hours per week, and all of my classes are in French, not English.
ここでは、週に25時間くらい授業に出なければならず、授業はすべて英語じゃなくフランス語です。
The language was very difficult at first, but I’m starting to understand it better now.
最初は言葉がとても難しかったけど、今ではだいぶ理解できるようになったわ。
I’m happy because I’ve made some French friends, too.

I’m going to spend Christmas with my French friend Julie and her family.

The Way of Saint James
セント・ジェームスの道

　In northern Spain, there is a famous trail. It is called the Way of Saint James, and the Romans used it a long time ago.
スペイン北部に、有名な道がある。それは聖ジェームスと呼ばれ、その昔ローマ人が使っていた。
They bought and sold things in towns along the trail. Today, the Way of Saint James is special for Catholic people.
その昔、ローマ人は、町の道沿いで物を売り買いしていた。現在では、カトリックの人々にとって、この道は特別なものです
The trail ends at a church in the area of Galicia. The name of the church is the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
道の終点は、ガリシアにある教会です。その教会の名前は、サンティアゴ・デ・コンポステーラ大聖堂です。
　Catholics go there to visit the grave of Saint James, a person who was very important in Catholic history.
カトリック教徒は、カトリックの歴史上とても重要な人物である聖ヤコブのお墓参りをするためにそこに行きます。They walk to the church from cities that are far away, such as Paris and Berlin.
彼らはパリやベルリンなど遠く離れた都市から教会まで歩いてやってくる。
When people get to Galicia, they first visit the shrine of Saint James.
ガリシアに着くとまず聖ヤコブの祠に参拝する。
After that, they get a special prize from the church for finishing the walk.
その後、教会から完歩賞が贈られる。

　Long ago, some kings wanted more people to live along the Way of Saint James.
昔ある王様が、この道沿いに多くの人を住まわせようと考えた。
When people walked on the trail, they bought many things in the towns and villages along the way.
人々はこの道を歩くと道沿いの町や村でいろいろなものを買いました。
This brought money to the people who lived there.
その結果そこに住む人々にお金がもたらされました。

　These days, people from all over the world travel to Spain and walk the Way of Saint James.
現在では、世界中の人々がスペインを訪れ、「ヤコブの道」を歩いている。
They can also stop at small towns and visit many beautiful places on the trail.
また、小さな町にも立ち寄り、道中にあるたくさんの美しい場所を訪れることができます
This trail is still popular with Catholics, but many other people also walk it for fun.
この道はカトリック教徒に人気がありますが、他の多くの人々も楽しみながら歩いています。
